So I was thinking it might be nice to do a little run-through of a few of the designs that have been created at the JFD studios this year.....not a comprehensive list by any means, (that would take far too long!), but a little taster of some of the images that caught my eye as I was sorting through all my client folders from 2012. Followers of the JFD Facebook page will have seen some of these before throughout this past year, as I like to update the page very regularly with the snaps I take of all the dresses just before they leave the studio for their moment in the spotlight.....
One of the first weddings of the year was Cath's.....and she chose this gorgeous quail coloured double silk crepe-back satin for her gown......
Strings of silvery grey freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals accentuated the deep V back neckline |
The same pearls , crystals and silver-lined seed beads were used to work this intricate feature at the centre front neckline |
A similar shaped motif, this time worked on to the front waistline of Michelle's champagne silk chiffon wedding dress |
Michelle's gown also had a waterfall bustle of chiffon and shredded silk tulle, which could be unhooked to form an extended train |
Emma's gown had a dramatic waterfall of silk organza ruffles cascading down the train |
Silk organza is one of my favourite fabrics, its firm but semi-sheer texture looks wonderful with an inset lace hem, as in Marie's pretty design.....
Here's another scalloped lace hem, this time trimming Mady's French lace and organza wedding dress, with 3/4 sleeves....
French lace also works wonderfully well with the softness of silk chiffon, here in the most delicate shade of pale green for Caroline's design..... |
A stronger shade of apple green silk dupion softened by a layer of ivory organza creates a fresh look for Rhian's strapless prom-style gown.... |
The bodice of Rhian's dress was embellished with Swarovski crystals...... |
More Swarovski crystal and seed bead embellishment on Julia's oyster silk satin dress..... |
Assymetric pleating on the empire line bodice and a bias cut skirt created an elegant silhouette for Julia |
The same shade of oyster silk satin was used for Christine's 1930s inspired design |
An art deco pattern of concentric circles was used for the beaded embellishment of Christine's gown..... |
And here it is repeated on Jade's ivory silk satin wedding dress..... |
The reverse of the silk crepe-back satin was used to create some interesting seaming detail on the skirt of Jade's dress..... |
The skirt of Carly's ivory dress was constructed of layers of cloudy silk tulle..... |
......and was fully removable to reveal a slender French lace dress underneath.... |
Jess's drop-waisted 1920s style lace dress was worn over a cafe-au-lait silk satin underdress..... |
Handpainted silk organza rosettes and seed bead fringing formed the detail on Jess's design. |
Ocean's silk dupion one shoulder gown had a dramatic bow tied high on the hip. |
Jaime chose an oversize ivory bow for the back of her silk tulle and lace tea-length dress.... |
.......whilst Stephanie had the option of changing in to a scarlet sash and bow for her reception..... |
Anika's pale pink silk duchesse satin bow..... |
......and Marie's neat centre front waistband version........ |
Esme requested that a little of the lace from her Grandmother's wedding dress be incorporated into the waist corsage of her own dress.... |
3/4 sleeves have been a popular choice this year, as in this delicate design for Rachel |
.....and this full length embroidered tulle and silk chiffon design for Kate |
Juliette's silk chiffon wedding gown was finished with fragile lace insets..... |
......and tiny silk covered buttons and rouleau loops...... |
The button and loop closure makes such a pretty detail on the back of Kate's tea-length design..... |
....and complete this elegant Mother of the Groom dress for Ruth in pewter corded lace..... |
.....which also incorporated a vintage paste buckle..... |
Black corded lace was used for Jan's Mother of the Groom dress...... |
......which had a silk/linen mix fitted jacket with acid green silk detailing..... |
.....picking up the green silk edged black net petticoats..... |
Jennie's cornflower blue silk bound ivory net petticoats...... |
......and Rachael's lace hem and turquoise edged petticoats..... |
.....for her halter neck design in French lace and silk organza. |
Banded silk organza was used for Margaret's structured full length wedding gown |
Kelly's slender column dress in beaded French lace...... |
.....with feature low back supported by silk satin spaghetti straps. |
Shelley's silk satin wedding dress featured a harness back...... |
......with crystal and bugle bead detailing....... |
Shelley wore this beautifully detailed appliqued lace shawl with her gown...... |
....whilst Gill chose this fitted embroidered tulle jacket.... |
...and Louisa had an ostrich feather stole.... |
Ostrich feathers were used for the luxuriously tactile collar and cuffs of Franky's silk velvet fitted coat for her winter wedding.... |
Lisa chose a gleaming pale ivory silk duchesse satin pleat-front wedding dress.... |
....whilst Clare chose this lovely warm soft gold....... |
Jenny's sunshine yellow silk dress was perfect for her Autumn wedding..... |
Antonia's embroidered silk dupion design for her October wedding..... |
......the bodice was embellished with silk ribbon embroidery and applique details. |
Jodie's all over French lace tea-length wedding dress |
Kerry's knee length all-over French lace dress, for her December wedding.... |
These are all so beautiful I want to cry.
