A bride adorned.....

Ivory satin vintage doll's wedding dress

Regular readers of the blog may have seen my story last week of a lovely charity shop find of a child's suitcase containing a cache of vintage dolls' clothes dating back to the 1940s/50s. Judging by her wardrobe, the owner of these tiny dresses led a life of giddy hedonism. No practical pant-suits or shirt-waisters for her, but a very extensive collection of jewel-bright satin ballgowns.

Ivy's little suitcase also contained quite a number of intricately stitched bridal gowns. What's the story here? Obviously a string of broken engagements and forlorn suitors jilted at the altar.......

  1. I am looking for a pattern maker and a dressmaker who can make a twenties style dress for me to wear at my son's wedding.

    1. Thanks for your enquiry. I am a designer rather than a dressmaker, and you can find out more about the way I work over on my website www.joanneflemingdesign.com. Do drop me an email if you would like to commission a bespoke design, info@joanneflemingdesign.com.
      Many thanks,
      Joanne
