Let them eat cake....

Pink silk Marie-Antoinette inspired dress by Joanne Fleming Design

Here's a little something I've been working on over the last couple of weeks....a riff on the Shepherdess of Versailles.....just the thing for tending the flocks at Le Petit Trianon. It's a development of my 'Kathryn' design from last year's 'Souvenir de la Malmaison' collection, and it's allowed me to really utilise this beautiful silk ribbon embroidery technique I've been practising, which extends down the entire front panel of the dress, and is picked up in the tiny silk ribbon rosebuds worked into the net petticoats.
In the softest cloud pink, the quilted effect of the main body of the dress holds the skirts into their exaggerated panniered silhouette, emphasising the tiny corseted waist, and the low scooped neckline reveals just the right amount of heaving bosom.......
